Majacraft Aura Spinning Wheel — Technical Description


The Majacraft Aura is an innovative double-drive spinning wheel designed in collaboration with spinner Lexi Boeger (Pluckyfluff). 


Drive System & Ratios


- The Aura employs two independent drive bands: one (polycord) for the flyer drive, and a separate non-stretch Dacron tension / bobbin drive band for take-up control. 

The flyer drive provides three preset ratios: 4.1:1, 5.4:1, and 7.3:1  

The bobbin drive features two fixed ratios plus an infinite adjustment for fine tuning take-up independent of flyer twist.  

 

Flyer & Orifice

It uses a hybrid flyer with a dual-function orifice: a “delta” section that holds fine yarns or coil yarns steady for observation, and a bypass “halo ring” for spinning bulkier yarns.  

The Aura can spin “anything that can be pulled through this orifice” using the double drive setup.

Accessories & Compatibility

  • Ships with three jumbo wooden bobbins  
  • Compatible with all existing Majacraft flyers, and wood bobbins made after April 2010  
  • The handle is folding and adjustable, with built-in stops to limit motion range.  

 

Hardware & Construction Details

Uses stainless steel hinges  

JCB bolts are used in many structural joints to maintain clean lines and rigidity.  

The handle includes an acrylic slider to protect the wheel assembly when adjusting the spinning head.  

The wheel is ambidextrous, usable by both right- and left-handed spinners without alteration.
